Yo-Zuri Hybrid vs. McCoy Mean Green

Post by Versatile Futurian » Mon Nov 21, 2011 5:20 pm

I am looking for a good mono/co-poly for my crankbait rod next year. I do not like using fluorocarbon for cranking. So what are your opinions and/or reviews on each line? Thanks

For cranking I prefer mean green. It has very little memory and is pretty thin comparied to most lines.

Hybrid is considerably stronger for its diameter than Mean Green is and is more abrasion resistant. Mean Green is a lot limper than Hybrid, but if you aren't going to have much slack in your line when cranking, that probably isn't a significant enough plus to outweigh the advantages Hybrid has.

McCoy

I never cared for yo zuri it didn't last over two trips on any combo I had tried it on. To much memory for my taste as well. McCoy will outcast yozuri any day especially cranking. McCoy is true to its breaking strength while yozuri is much stinger than rated.

Can't comment on Yo-Zuri. Have used Mean Green for several years. Like everything about it except visibility, which often is a good thing. Cast great, memory is reasonable. Does not break unexpectedly. Knots are good. All around great performing line.

I've been using YH 8, 10 and 12# for a while and have been very happy with it. Haven't tried McCoys yet, but most who have like it. Neither line is very expensive. I'd recommend you buy a spool of both and try them out.
