any blade will work good. The plastic line cutters that are sold at scuba stores work great. A mail opener or cd opener with a razor blade works just as well. There are also knives that have line cutters, i cary a scuba knife, beacuse it will not rust.

These are a gift at the price.

I have a pair on every tackle belt and tackle box I own. I have a pliers set with the holster and lanyard. I slip lanyard through one of the thumb holes and let them dangle. Handy to grab and never have trouble finding them.

I use these. The front part of the scissors lets you change split rings too. The only issue is that it rusts slightly in contact with SW, but no problems with FW so far.

Abel nippers, very expensive but light, strong, and saltwater proof with replacement cutter warranty. Take this idea from fly fisherman and attach them to a retractable lanyard and pin it to your outer garment for easy access. A no brainer!

These are the best in my opinion, given the convenience - and price is a bonus. I've used plenty of different scissors and pliers with cutters. Most eventually dull out, or are just cumbersome to carry and fit into a small pocket in my tackle bags. The Boomerang tool is much more convenient and after two seasons, its just as sharp as it was out of the box, it seems. Small enough I carry them in a front pocket of my jeans, without worrying about getting stabbed by pointy scissors.cueball wrote:These

truly remarkable how easily they cut braid.

x3 I got mine at Hi's Tackle Box. I definitely like the ones without the lights. It has a compact profile, and has stayed as sharp as the first day I got them.Zman wrote:These are the best in my opinion, given the convenience - and price is a bonus. - Are the cutting blade portion of those serrated? It's hard to tell from the pics.
Re: Best Tool For Cutting Braid
Those are really good at cutting braid & it doesn't hurt much if/when you lose them. Cabela's Braid Scissors are really good as well & only a buck more, that's what most of mine are. Have a bunch of them, the number keeps shrinking though, and they work nicely, but I'll be going with the BPS ones in the future.USA-RET wrote:These are a gift at the price.

The Berkley TEC scissors are junk from my experience. Things cost a good chunk & the spring pops them open to the point where the blades lock together, it cuts worse than the store brands scissors I use, in short, just horrible.

these are the best scissors for that price. Every time I visit bass pro shop, I'll buy a pair. I have a friend used to cut braided line with Swiss knife until I bought him these. (day and night)

I'm the only guy I know of that uses the hotline cutter:

I've used braid on all my rigs for 20 years and bought every brand of scissors. They all get dull eventually. The hotline cutter has worked great for me for the last three years. I noticed they've changed the model up somewhat. Don't know anything about the new version---i've got the model reviewed by TT.
