Am i a fool for using mono ??

Post by Flathead » Thu Jan 31, 2013 1:07 am

Hi i just wanna ask a question, do you think im a fool for using mono ?? all my friends use braid and eveytime i fish they hack me out about my line, I have used mon. fluro and braid and always comeback to the mono, I HATE FLURO and will never use it again and braid well... is okay but mono is just simple and it works.

I have a Daiwa Lexa and a 7 foota if that makes a difference

I agree, it's simple and it works. I too have tried the other type's of line and keep coming back.

Do what makes you happy unless getting payed depends on your results.

I agree with everyone above, I also have tried FL & BR but keep returning to mono. I use FL as leader only now and can’t stand the limpness of BR. Maybe it’s a lifetime of using mono, knowing it’s strengths and weaknesses, knowing what I know and can rely upon. Someday hooks will electronically connected to a remote control, no wire, line necessary (talk about being invisible) When the fish bites your remote will sense it and will using your remote control the fish to swim in to your net like flying a remote controlled plane only it’s a fish underwater. Your polarized sunglasses will give you underwater vision to see and navigate the fish to the boat or land where you are waiting with your net. Sounds technical, not so for the year of 2113. Wait and see I will be right, fishing not with rod & reel but special hook or bait and remote control. That’s the future, takes all the fun out of fishing don’t you think? =))))

Use what you like, not what everyone expects you to use. Have you tried YoZuri? Less stretch and strong compared to most. Its pretty cheap like mono. Just a thought. Rag on them that you have extra money in your pocket for not fishing all braid.

Confidence is huge when it come to fishing IMO. Use what you like and don't let others tell you otherwise. That being said be open to suggestions and every once and awhile try something new.... Toray or Sunline, eh.

NOT AT ALL - but you should REALLY look at Co-poly.

I like mono too. I use both Sufix Elite and Sufix Siege and have had a lot of very good results. I have used braided line on a limited basis mostly Power Pro and like most others here have struggled with flouro. I'm going to start using braided line with a flouro leader this season for jigs, t-rigs, c-rigs, etc.

IMO, there are two techniques where braid is a must. They are punching & frogs on mats. Other than that, I say use what you like.
