You’d think that Daiwa’s marketing people would make the fishing public aware of that. It’s good line but comparing it to other braids can be like comparing apples to oranges….at least as far as strength to diameter.

Interesting info. I've heard great things about Samurai, and wonder how it compares to their new J-Braid x8 GRAND. I suppose it's thin diameter is one of their strong suits, but when you realize it breaks a lot lower than other lines, I wonder if the hefty price tag is worth it. In the end I still wonder why Samurai is considered superior?

Old thread, but I just picked up some Samurai 40# braid on sale and was going to try it.. now I'm not so sure. I typically use Sufix 832 30# and haven't had any issues.

Any recent feedback/results on Samurai?

I had bad luck in the area of wind knots with 40# Samurai basically ruined the whole spool. Some of the knots would pull out or could take time to untangle but 4 times the line snapped at the wind knot leaving me with no uninterrupted line on a decent cast gave up on it. Though its not loud its not as quiet as PPS8S nor as strong.

Thanks... guess I'll put this in the drawer as a backup.

I have used Daiwa Samurai Braid in 18, 20 and 30# for years with no issue other than some minor bleeding with the green version.
