Best fishing line for the specific techniques

Post by Jdmbassman » Sat Nov 21, 2015 1:09 am

Hi all,

What are the must have fishing lines for the respective techniques. My current line up is listed below but I'm always looking to learn more;

(Drop Shot) 7lb Sniper
(Shaky Head, Tubes and Wacky Rigged Senkos) 10lb Sniper
(Jig Rig & Light Plastics) 7lb BMS
(Cranks ) 8lb Reaction FC
(Buzzbaits and Top Waters) 11lb Shooter Defier Armilio
(Jerk Baits) 10lb Reaction FC
(Frogs) 55lb Samurai Braid
(3/8oz jigs & 5" Senkos) 12lb Shooter
(1/2oz to 3/4oz jigs & 6" Senkos) 16lb Shooter
(Swimjigs) 16lb Shooter
(Chatterbaits & Lipless Cranks) 20lb Sniper
(Flipping & Pitching) 55lb Samurai braid

Thanks in advance and happy holidays

Matthew

I think Shooter FC Sniper is significantly nicer than Sniper. Much more limp and smooth than Sniper or Shooter. I have been fishing rocks with 8 pound Shooter Sniper Metan BFS, and it is holding up very very well. Only negative I see with it, is that it is thicker than Sniper or Shooter.

I must say I have only used Sunline products as my attention was on the rods and reels to get. I haven't ever heard of Shooter FC Sniper but I'm game to give it a try. Same can be said for Megabass Dragon Call and the Toray range.

Please let me know your experiences with these lines.

I have tried Toray SuperHard Strong (treble hook fluorocarbon) and it was very nice, but I would just buy Shooter FC Sniper :)

I would try some Tatsu on your drop shot outfit. I switched from Sniper to Tatsu on my spinning reels 2 seasons ago. It handles very well on spinning reels.

Have you missed your line choice for topwater lures?

Sunline Sniper or Shooter FC for all techniques where I prefer fluorocarbon
12# Sniper for all crankbaits and suspending jerkbaits
16# Sniper for Texas rigged Plastics/Spinnerbaits/Pitchin'
20# Shooter for Flippin'

12# Trilene XL for topwaters and floating jerkbaits

50# Sufix 832 for Frogs/Punchin'/Buzzbaits

The lakes I fish have grass, pads, reeds, stumps, laydowns, a lot of heavy cover. Never had issues with line using those stated.
I'll stick with them until they give me a reason to switch.

How about big topwater baits? Would you guys go braid or 20lb+ mono? I'm talking about baits 2oz and up.

I use braid for my smaller baits but I'm very new to these big boys.

Sunline looks to have three lines that are called Shooter FC Sniper, the latter and Invisable and BMS. I fished the BMS on Saturday. It was nice so I was looking for more but may give the Invisable and non colored a try too
