Loctite on knots

Post by Rodster14 »

Does anyone use Loctite on their knots when joining one type of line to another? If so, does it help?

Oh lordy no. Plenty of knots to choose from that need nothing but spit.
But, if you HAD to use some sort of 'anti-slip ' goop, superglue actually fuses .

Never had the need unless using a palomar knot with a thin diameter slick braid. Just used a different knot instead.

Locktide or superglue could decrease slippage but how they affect strength of lines? Could they partially dissolve lines or somehow
decrease their strength? IMHO it is require some searching and experiments.

I only use sticky stuff if i want to prevent braid tags from unwraveling or on hollow core splice serves.
Nothing really bonds to spectra even if you use the jerry brown 2 part glue system..

Also some knots compress more the heavier the load. So glue could cause them not to compress equally.

The last time i ever glued fluoro was with 40lb stren fluoro.....it melted it. I remember netting a fluke...and though it threw the hook in the net...tossed it back and realized the line broke....closer inspection saw a clean break with part of it melted.

if you are oging to use glue....use it to protect the knot or tags and I recomend one of the uv glue products that are flexible that you can sort of knead into the knot.

Loon Knot Sense is what you want. Superglue is fallacy save for perhaps braid, be it Loctite brand or otherwise :-s
