We need a gofundme account for line testing.
20lb x9 coming your way.

I got a idea, people can pay for our line, I will fish it and you can test it...

If I like the FG knot strength and S/W, I'm going to order the 8 and 10 lbs. Hopefully it has the FG knot strength of the 4 strands Fireline Crystal or better. For some reason, the new fused 8 carrier has terrible FG knot strength in the 60% and not the usual 80%.

It seems like nice braid, a little waxy and kinda soft to begin with..
Can't wait to see your results.

I will see how it fishes using crankbaits soon

I want to try the 8 carrier on a baitcaster (TD-Z), but I can't find it anywhere locally. Most of my reels are spooled with 30 lb test Sufix 832 (.29 mm) and J-Braid x8 (.28 mm). I'm seeing different line diameter specs on the Fireline, so I'm not sure which # test will be the most suitable within my diameter range. I was thinking about the 17 lb test, but I'm not sure. Any recommendations?

I use 20# ultra 8 on numerous steelhead reels. I would guess its about the same diameter of 12# mono. Great stuff!
Stiff as wire until it breaks in.
6# on the trout rods is fantastic also.
I use the crystal which is easy for these old eyes to see and dont have to worry about fading like the hi vis Sufix.
Zero wind knots and zero tip wrap. I will never use power pro again!

I didn't care for it myself, I used 30lb but it was very thick compared to jbraid or ohero (12lb diameter vs 7-8lb diameter), I'm trying it on spinning instead of baitcast reels to see if I'll like it better on spinning gear, I do have some 17lb I want to try in smoke but I can't bring myself to strip off the gliss yet as it hasn't seen much fishing time.

6# ultra 8 has been great so far. Was a big fan of the original 6# and this appears to be an upgrade to an old classic.

I read that the diameter for fireline is way different from other braid companies, what would the closest diameter of fireline be compareable to 8lb mono or 10lb mono?

Does the fused carrier have memory, like a monofilament or fluorocarbon line?

I’m partial being a former 4#, 6#, and 8# original fireline user but I think for light applications the Ultra 8 Fireline is the best spinning reel line I’ve found in the smaller diameters. That includes a lot of JDM lines that cost a small fortune. For me its awful hard to beat 6# ultra 8.

It has some stiffness to it for slack line sensitivity you won’t get in any of the softer braids but has no memory.

Line memory yes.

Like mono or flouro...no. Fused superline has very little spring resistance memory. 1/32 oz can easily pull line pretty much straight on the retrieve.

It will hold a shape under no load but one contact/pull/twitch/shake of the line and it’s memory free like braid. Even a reasonable cast through guides or a bait in the water straightens it completely for me. So no, I would not personally call that memory in any way.

I think that very slight stiffness once straightened is what gives it superior slack line sensitivity that I don’t think is found in other common braids.
