Most abrasion resistant braid - Frogin

Post by RMCatchNrelease » Fri Apr 26, 2019 2:49 pm

I have been using Superslick8 in 50#

Looking for something that resists abrasion better. I can't go up in diameter as SV spools don't hold enough 65#.

Looking at Berkley X5 and Viscous No Fade. They both allow me to go up to 60# as they have smaller diameter.

Trying to stay in the .36 range.

Thank you!

You should take a look at Sunline FX2 in 50 or 60 pound.

I've been impressed with Daiwa J-Braid Grand. The 50# is .36 and has proven to be very abrasion resistant for me, more so than some other 65# braids. As a bonus, it's an 8 carrier and casts really well. I've fished 50# on a Tatula SV TW in grass, pads, and heavy wood cover with a lot of success.

Just out of curiosity, why are you needing abrasion resistance for frogging? Typically guys are looking for the braid that saws through vegetation best, and that tends to be a less round four carrier line which also tends to have the least abrasion resistance. Are you frogging around rip-rap or something? Maybe a short 20# nylon leader would help.
This is the way.

We don't have pads and grass here. My fish are up shallow in bushes and trees.

SuperSlick8 seems to really get chewed up if you come across branches or logs.

I'm liking #50 j-braid x4. Better than original power pro for sure.

Please post a link when you find it for sale. I looked around but I believe it is a new release and I could not find a retailer.

Thanks

EDIT: I see the release date is 05/19

Sure is IMO , it's less than $10 a spool at my local wally world. It losses it's color faster , but I don't worry about that too much.
For frogs it doesn't matter. I flip with the X8 , and use a sharpie above the bait , if I'm in dark water.

The frog line is not out yet but I did find a "boat" line. From what I can tell the only difference is 10m colors. It is much cheaper and a larger 200m spool size.

It has the same description, +300% abrasion, same ToughPE, UVF, and Si2
