Sunline Stuter
Sunline Stuter
I was talking to someone about the performance of Sunline Stuter, 55lb test. After a LITTLE bit of use, tried for froggin' but not much froggin' 'round here. Put it on a Steez Limited Edition 8.1 for pitchin'. Left a lot to be desired. Sorry sports fans. YMMV.
Re: Sunline Stuter
So what didn't it do that you desire? What people want in a braided line is extremely subjective. People get very little from your post if you don't tell us what we might like or not like about the line. Please tell us! This helps us make more informed decisions.

That someone was me. The TW reviews weren't exactly glowing, either. I'll pass. I think I'm just going to go back to 832 and pretend no other superline exists.
This is the way.

I don't know what I'm going to do now. I used to use one of the other JDM, Varivas. They don't make it anymore, to my knowledge. Hard to find replacements these days.poisonokie wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 10:06 amThat someone was me. The TW reviews weren't exactly glowing, either. I'll pass. Aquaftm said something about a Varivas braid that he considers second-to-none. IIRC it will run you like five dollars a foot, though. A bargain, really, since it's the last spool of braid you'll ever have to buy. Because your wife will kill you.Johnny A wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 1:21 pmI don't know what I'm going to do now. It's meters PN. Tell them one YEN per meter and they will get confused and think it is OKpoisonokie wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 2:19 pmAquaftm said something about a Varivas braid that he considers second-to-none. Lol, I know it. The good news is Varivas still makes braid. All I've used from them is 2.1# Ester and that line is Fannnn-tastic for UL spinning. So I believe it when you say the braid is good. My deal is that a spool of line can get destroyed or otherwise rendered unusable in a flash, and if it was really spendy or had to be imported from Japan or both that makes such a scenario hard for me to swallow. I mean you could catch a weed on your cast and backlash it into Oblivion, you could rub it against a sharp rock and create a weak spot 60' from your lure, you could get a more manageable backlash but inadvertently create weak spots deep down in the spool that could snap on the next cast or kicker fish... I have a deep appreciation for JDM rods, reels, and baits, but try to keep my line domestic, or at least readily available and reasonably inexpensive.Johnny A wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 4:22 pmChampagne taste, beer wallet. Fortunately for me when I was in NJ, there was very little abrasion causing cover in the areas I was fishing. The danger was pickerel and their two different types of teeth. Sharp, needly ones that sliced and the roof of mouth Velcro type that were quite abrasive.poisonokie wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 7:33 pmLol, I know it. The good news is Varivas still makes braid. I had one spool that lasted 3 years, maintained it's strength and structure. It's a matter of value vs price.

I just found some Varivas under the Nogales "Dead or Alive" brand.poisonokie wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 2:19 pmAquaftm said something about a Varivas braid that he considers second-to-none. I'll report back on how it compares to the old stuff.
