Does Heat Help Or Hurt Line Memory?

Post by Ghost » Thu Apr 23, 2020 10:53 pm

What I mean is mono, copoly or fluoro line on a reel, when the rod and reel are inside a warm or hot car.

I am using P-Line CXX and just wondering if less memory on the line if inside a car.

Does line tend to get weaker when it's warmed up inside a car?

Also, does the warmth inside a car have affect on a reels oils and grease?

I don’t know about the effect of being inside a warm car,
but I do know that 10# CXX is unusable when I start fishing
in the spring (water temperature 45°, air temperature 50°).

After summer temperatures appear, however, it is much
more manageable.

Simply yes - keep them including lures from oven hot cars!
