I was just wondering on any good tools you guys have found for spooling or stripping line off reels. I just tossed a really really old berkley stripper that went to pot finally. Did a search online and the ones now look about the same as they did 20 years ago.

I'm quite interested to see what everyone has to say here. I burn through line strippers at a good clip; they just seem to be cheaply made nowadays.

For stripping large amounts of line, a power drill with a hole saw bit is pretty good. Tie your line through the slots and keep your fingers out of the way, lol!

You can use any number of items that will spin.

An old kite stringer.
The child trike or bike with just the old wheel rim.
the old spool where you go the line from.

Battery power tools comes cheap and easy now.

Buy a thick length of wooden dowel / cut into 20cm odd lengths - drill a pilot hole in the end and screw a decent gauge screw into it deep enough / and enough remaining to use in a drill chuck.

Cut the head of the screw.

Put it into the drill chuck, and wind off the line at your leisure at manic speed.

I purchased Daichiseiko recycler 2.0. It really helps a lot if I spool new line and find that was not spooled as good as I hoped, or if it appears that backing is not correct amount or if I just want to change line for a spool and I don't want to trash line. In my opinion it's really worth of money:

My cheap and easy method of stripping line.

I cut a plastic hangar, cut off the long straight piece. Chuck it in my cordless drill, tape the line to the chunk of hangar and go. Strips line fast and easy. As you use it, you build up more line and it strips faster. When you're done with it, chuck the whole mess in the trash.

Years ago I got a free battery powered Berkley stripper with a line purchase. Still working well after 12 years.

Using this also for a couple of years.
Its worth the money and easy to use.

Use an empty spool with a long bolt some washers and a nut attached to a cordless drill.
