Prop Baits - Alternative to Wounded Zara Spook?

Post by Snyder Rods » Mon Dec 05, 2011 12:53 pm

Are there any alternative prop baits similar to the Wounded Zara Spook but just a little smaller? Ideally, I'd like something a little lighter...

- say 5/8oz.

- skinnier or shorter, perhaps 3.75" long.

- Must have dual props and internal rattles.

- preferably under $10

I caught a lot of fish on these, but that was 30 years ago:

Please list any that you know of. Thank you.

the Heddon Dying Flutter, it doesn't have the internal rattles but it catches fish and is a perfect "finesse" alternative to the wounded spook. http://www.landbigfish.com/showcase.cfm?PID=165

Under $10 is going to be the problem. Mimic has a propbait similar to Brians B but more durable. Weighs in aroud 3/8oz probably. Rapala has new propbait based on jerkbait body but I have not fished it. The mimic bait is killer around docks, overhangs, seawalls, etc.

great bait that catches fish.
I was going to recommend this as well but It's a silent bait and it's not $10. However, if you wait patiently you can usually find them used for about $10. Also, I don't know how important a rattle is with prop baits. I think these make enough noise as it is :-k

Also check out the kelly J, little different body style but a very good bait.
