imo, rapala x-raps are the bench mark for jerkbaits. pretty hardy but lemons do occur once in a while.

I used to find x-raps expensive. until someone did an average costing based on the no. of fish one lure catches before it's decommissioned either to snags or normal wear and tear. i admit that notwithstanding lemons, rapalas are downright CHEAP.

Then again, there's no LM bass here, only peacock bass; so your bass might like something else better.

in my experience, having tried the house brands of some retailers (bps, cabelas, mainly) and some of the cheaper brands of hardbaits around (matzuo, some other i cant think of off hand) i have to say that i wouldnt buy most of them again. i think that each company probably has a model in their respective line-ups that is good, personally i will stick to a proven product with a long line of quality, productivity and a product that will, in most cases, be around for a while, so if i like it i can get more!

that being said, most of the major manufacturers out there make a quality product, and i dont have a loyalty to specific brands, rapala, strike king, sebile, berkely (flicker shads are under rated by the bass crowd, IMO), lucky craft, ima, spro, etc, all have a place in my tackle boxes, and i look forward to each coming icast to see what comes out. so, imo, yes they are worth the money.

my personal favorites are: for daytime berkely flicker shad size 7 (maybe the 9, but thats too new and i havent used it much yet) catches everything, walleye, both smallies and largies, catfish, pike, whitebass, etc. and at night i love clakin minnows to keep over the tops of weeds for walleyes and bass.

Put me into the Rapala bin, dollar for dollar I just get a lot out of them and they catch fish. I have some Megabass and Lucky Craft baits and they do catch fish but I have them for certain situations.

Your question can't be answered unless you narrow your bait catagory significantly.
