Throwing top end baits at docks
I have been bitten by the high quality bait bug lately and now have a few lucky craft, and duo baits. Do you toss these high end baits near docks and rock cover or use a cheaper bait for this "dirty work". I fear the broken bill, and i know there ment to be fished, but i try and avoid the high loss areas with my best baits.

I use them. In most cases, the high end baits that I have out fish the less expensive ones. The concession that I do make is to use an 'older' bait instead of the brand new one.

Fish 'em, and fish 'em hard. Worst case scenario you have a pretty keychain.

Can't be scared. I use to be, but its all part of the experience. Some areas of my favorite lake have lure decorated Xmas trees. May as well be hanging ten dollar bills on them. Most I can get back. Docks... My biggest fear is breaking jerk bills. I fish a lake for big browns early spring, and they love docks. They also love pointers. Just gotta do it

Fish em' like you stole em'…Gives you an excuse to get more !…and stock up when they're on sale or on ebay. I find the more I have of a certain type of lure, the less worried I am about losing or breaking one.

I still fish the danger zones, but when it comes to my high end/ priced baits I am a little more careful/ accurate with my casts.

If they are in the boat they get fished. Can't win if you are playing with scared money.
Re: Throwing top end baits at docks
I broke couple Oneten's while fishing parallel to docks, anyway, never had much success with hardbaits close to docks, maybe because most of the docks are in 25-40 feet deep range. Skipping jigs is another story.

Throw em. You can't be scared. Why did you pay for them to sit in a tackle box to appreciate how pretty it is or to do its job of catching fish? Some of the most dinged up baits are the ones that work the best

Dinged up and lost or broken are two different things. Either way, they make more. That's what I keep telling myself anyways.

I hear ya man. I do the same thing. But lately I just been using the good stuff . I don't care, it is meant to be fished. Holding back has no reward. Trust me the fish you catch will outweigh the baits you lose.
Re: Throwing top end baits at docks
You bought them for a reason. Use them. Unless it's on the mancave mantel or hanging in a mounts mouth, it's being thrown.
