New Lucky Craft Silent 1.5 Square Bill

Post by smalljaw » Thu Oct 15, 2015 6:06 am

Does anyone know what the difference is, or if there is a difference, between these new $6.99 models versus the $12 to $15 models? I did notice the less expensive model is a full inch longer and 1/8oz heavier and it is the exact size of the old Xcalibur XCS 200 which is a killer square bill this time of year. I only saw these on TW and didn't bother searching anywhere else but it looks like only a few colors but there are enough to cover most situations and so I'm hoping someone has tried these or at least saw one up close to see what kind of quality they have. I can't imagine LC putting out a bad bait but I also couldn't picture them putting out a $7 dollar bait either, any info would be really appreciated.

Ok I found them:

I am curious myself about these now. I have some ones I haven't seen before that have an all white molded lip, but assumed they were a JDM run. MTO I think they are. LC puts out so many versions of baits it is hard to keep up!

Wow, nice looking squarebills. Anyone know if these are made in japan? For $6.99 each I'm somehow doubting they are.

got a couple in and the hooks suck so I had to change...
They do not inspect all the baits IE 1/100 baits maybe so they are not scrutinized like the 16$ ones...

And you know this how?

I don't think Lucky Craft will risk their good reputation by allowing sub standard cranks onto the market. Obviously you cannot expect the same quality hardware on a crank that is $10 cheaper.

I talked to a couple of guys who got a single bait or two added to their order out of curiosity and I was told the hooks are good and the only real difference are the colors available. The 3 anglers that I spoke with never told me the hardware was the same, they all said pretty much the same thing, and that was the hooks are good, and that it is a high quality square bill for the price and every one of those guys purchased more so I'll grab a few and see for myself.

Quote from a buddy who is a dealer that deals with them on a daily basis...All this posted on my FB page as I posted my initial thoughts on the baits... Ill be buying more as if all I have to do is change hooks then no biggie there.. Paint seems fine as well..

"They are only QCing one of every hundred baits. That is a big change"
"Yeah I cam tell you why they are 6.99 other than components"

Now I'm really thinking of trying some. Good value for sure but hopefully they hold up over time.

I picked up a couple, they run true and seem to have the same wobble as the more expensive version. Colors are limited, and the paint jobs don't seem as flashy, but given how many square bills I lose in a season, the price is right.
