Feathered trebles on Sammy, Spook, etc. tails?

Not many walkers come with feathered trebles originally and I was thinking I'd try putting some on a few of my favorites. By now, the weather's just about killed any possibility of making my own comparisons, so I thought I'd ask around. I would think adding feathered trebles would dampen the action of walkers a little, but not enough to really spoil it. On the other hand, the added attraction would be a plus. So what do you think? Pros and cons?
Thanks!

In my experience it definitely messes with the glide of walking baits a bit, and due to that I tend to not bother. If I was looking for a little extra I’d tie up a treble with some Krystal Flash in whatever color compliments the color of the lure. It’ll add a little iridescent flash without creating too much bulk and drag. It would also be easy, and wouldn’t absorb water like a natural fiber would, which would help maintain the balance and intended action of the lure during prolonged use.

The Spro Top Dawg comes with a feathered rear treble. One of my favorite walkers, too.

On the smaller types definitely affects. The larger ones, only so so.

If you tie like only three feathers, it usually doesn't affect too much.

Anybody seen a good video how to make DIY feathered trebles?
Looking to replace some of stock feathered trebles with my own (made by Gamakatsu) trebles.

My favorite, Bagley's Knocker B, has a feathered treble and is one of the easiest walking baits I've tried.

Do a search for "how to make feathered treble hooks" on YouTube for a ton of such videos. You decide what's good...

Gym membership where they'll let you use the pool when no one is swimming. LOL. :big grin:

I do think they tend to dampen the action. However, if you are fishing the bait slower for less active fish then the feathers do add some attraction.

Lots of good videos on how to tie feathered trebles. You can knock out a dozen or so very quickly.

I buy Spook JR's that come with a feathered treble that are fantastic baits. I have some that don't have feathers too, and I've never noticed any difference between them. I do see a difference sometimes in so far as the dressed hooks getting more bites sometimes.
