I'm just wondering if there's any plans to do a re-release on the old P70 Pop R? I have four of them from a re-release they did back around 08-09. At one point in time the tackle trap had some in, maybe two years ago? I only fish them once in a blue moon, but wouldn't mind buying a few for my lure collection.

The variety of poppers on the market has exploded since the last re-release. Yes, a re-release would likely sell, but I think that there are a plethora of better poppers out there. The Japanese have been producing better looking and performing popper baits for decades. I would be collecting those if you are a collector. The more detailed Japanese poppers look a heck of a lot better in a display cabinet also.

Something about the Pop Rs that just work. I've seen my Pop Rs outfish my Megabass Pop X many times.

That “something” is that “blooorp” sound when you pop it. I remember one night tournament many years ago when the largemouths and hybrid stripers were on that thing like conspiracy theories on the Internet!

The more cupped faces push more water, and often work better at night, or with more water color. The bigger bloop will pull them longer distances. I'm partial to the spitting faces that are less cupped that you see on a lot of Japanese baits because I usually fish for bass in ultra clear western waters around big schools of shad. The more subtle spitting action looks more like a small flickering shad.
