Johnny A,

Texas Tackle Split Ring Pliers are the best I've used to change out treble hooks ;) .

Texas Tackle. No contest. Even though the quality has deterioated in recent years, their pliers are still the best.

Got myself a pair of Texas Tackle pliers after Cal's recommendation. Best ones I've owned. (But changing split rings is still something I expect to be doing as punishment in the 5th circle of hell  )

I enjoy doing it with TT pliers. I have their pliers in green and blue and maybe 5* of the orange version. I use the latter for changing split rings and also for changing lures when using a solid ring plus split ring as a diy snap...

I also have several of the Halco and Stonfo pliers, which have similar-ish appearence compared to TT pliers, but do not work quite as well.

Kastking makes a nice set of fishing pliers with a split ring nose on the end. I've used them in salt and fresh and they hold up well.

Ordered the Texas Tackle split ring pliers per recommendation.
Got them today.
Small is definitely small BUT look well made.
Here’s to new beginnings and thanks to all who participated.
Wish I could tell you there’ll be a little something extra in your pay envelope this week but hey, knowing you’ve helped another member of the angling fraternity, etc., etc., etc,.

I use the green handle version and find it too big for most of my needs.

works well on larger split rings though

These work for small split rings. I file the nose so it's more of a sharp blade.
