I have a Minus 1 that I painted solid black with a rattle can .... it’s caught me a ton of fish. The fish really don’t give a rat’s hindquarters about realistic scale patterns and such.
I have spray painted plenty of lures in my day. I have little bottles of car touch up paint in white, black, and red in the boat also because I like to make quick changes. They dry fast.

Having 2 girls in the house assured me a never ending supply of nail polish in a vast array of colors. Being enamel makes it a good durable option for customizing baits, but truth be told between green pumpkin & solid black, I could catch fish on those two for the rest of my life.

Those two are also what I use most.

Darth Maul met his maker in the form of a concrete retaining wall. Half of the lip cracked off.

I rattle canned a few baits years ago and never threw them. Now I have to dig them out.

Here they are. I did two red craw patterns with a flicked on black top with an old toothbrush. Also did a light black speckled top on an old big o type bait. The two red ones are a Fat A and a Manns deep crank. Also added jeweled eyes.

Get em wet. I've been throwing my various custom painted Baby-1 Minus cranks all spring and have been crushin em. The only problem is that I'm getting tired of replacing treble hooks.

Just throw em I love beat up hardbaits as long as they have good hooks.
