Opinion on SPRO products

What’s your take on SPRO products? I’ve seen their new glide bait and it seems pretty cool. Those rockcrawlers are very popular around here and definitely had good experience with them.

How do you typically find them as a brand vs some of the higher end stuff like the Japanese lures. Even see that BassFishingHQ guy do a significant number of tests on fluoro and theirs came out on top. Got me to wondering if they are something of a sleeper or just have a few good products.

I like spro products. Rats, bbz swimbaits, the bronzeye frog and I have an old love affair through many snakehead wars....but this is wild.

Aruku shad is excellent... especially the small/compact 3/8 oz 60 sized model.

Every time I think of SPRO, I think of the drama that occurred during the swimbait days (circa late 2000s) when SPRO (in conjunction with Bill Siemantel) released the BBZ-1 and pepole on the Wst Coast were like, "That looks like Jerry Rago's bait."

Then they released the soft bluegill that people claimed copied the Mattlures bait.

Some message boards were very interesting at the time, to say the least.

Then recently, the McStick 110 came out looking very similar to another '110' bait.

And now their dookie bait as well?

I do own a few of the small Baby Shads, as they have some killer action and with the tiny threadfin that live in our waters, it matches the hatch a tad better during the summer than the bigger 4" version, that I throw later in the year.

I think Spro is pretty good, better than decent, but not TOTL. I use the McStick and Aruku Shad. I've used many different trap baits, JDM etc., but I still get bit on the Aruku Shad and a certain old Yo Zuri more than any others.

The spro top dawg is my #1 FW walking bait, hands down.

In my opinion, the Aruku shad - 5/8 oz. size is
as good as lipless cranks get. It catches fish
on the fall, as well as with a straight retrieve.
However, you must upsize the stock rear treble
to a short-shank #4 to avoid losing fish. (In
my experience with smallmouths)

I thought that years ago as well...the Viper Risebacker is a great lure, but discontinued long ago (although I still have one left in my stash) The Risebacker has a different sound and much higher overall quality than the Spro Aruku.

Still the 60 size is very effective, the larger sizes haven't produced as well for me, but I don't have a lot of time on the water with them either.

There aren't too many peeps keen to the Viper Risebacker to be fair.

SPRO has always delivered me great lures. I really, really tried to give them an idea, the swimbait spike, but now 6th Sense makes something called the treble head. So other than me being butt hurt cause they didn't want my idea, I really enjoy SPRO. The shallower diving (wake bait) versions of their cranks are great too. I always do great in the deep fall and winter on the McStick 95 and 110, as with the little Phat Flies.

Spro power swivels has always been my must have.

I have some old propbaits, crankbaits, and lipless cranks from their Vibe production.

I have 5 or 6 SPRO lures, like topwater, frongs and lipless crankbaits. I've never really liked any of them much. They have good quality and look good, but some little things I don't like (for example, the lipless crankbait crankbait runs a little deeper than I like, when I fish shallow flats or points.) I do think they make some good ones, though
