zillion 6:3.1 or 7:0.1
hello i want to buy a zillion and i am going to put this rod on a loomis spinnerbait rod and im probely only going to use it for burning spinnerbaits for smallies and i was wondering which model i should get the 6:3.1 or the 7:0.1 for burning spinnerbaits right under the surface for smallies
thank you
thank you

I dont have either but, if you plan on using it to burn spinnerbaits, I would go with the 7:1. The 6.3:1 still has a pretty fast IPT (28") but if I had to buy a reel primarily for burning lures, it would definetly be a 7:1.

Re: zillion 6:3.1 or 7:0.1
I would go with the 7.0:1 gear ratio as well...if I was going to use a reel ONLY for burning spinnerbaits. I would go with the 7.0:1 REVO-STX myself... ...but definitely the 7.0:1 gear ratio...for that application...

I don't have one, but the 7:1 seems attractive as a bass and northern fishing tool. I assume that bigger baits will be harder to retrieve, but typical largemouth lures shouldn't be a burden.

OR you could wait for the extremely delayed review of the Zillion by TT

well I already know this reel is awsome would the 7:0.1 be alright to fish other baits to like tubes and stuff and will this gear ratio handle burning a 1/2 ounce spinnerbait or is the bait to heavy for the reel?

In general, a burner reel can be great for plastics/jigs as well. The reason is because you can get the lure back to the boat quickly and make another pitch/cast in less time. So you get more pitches in in a given day than you would with a slower IPT reel...

6:3.1 looks pretty fast enough for me,i won't want to sacrifies too much cranking power,it jz narrow down the applications of the reels, unless u really truely madly deeply jz wan to play plastic or small resistance bait.
Re: zillion 6:3.1 or 7:0.1
7:0.1 for sure...
Should be a really nice setup too!!

Re: zillion 6:3.1 or 7:0.1
yeah i just wantyed to know if the 7:0.1 has enough cranking power to pull a 1/2 spinnerbait fast all the time do you think i will burn this reel out or no?
thanks for all ur opinions guys

Re: zillion 6:3.1 or 7:0.1
Dont over think it. There is only a 3 inch difference in the IPT on the 2 reels. That is enough to make a difference when scorching lures but it wont "burn the reel out". Burning baits is one of the reasons they came out with the burner reels, hence the name. Im sure Daiwa thought about this, and I dont think they would have come out with the reel if it didnt have the balls to burn a 1/2oz spinnerbait. I could be completely wrong, but in the case of my Revo STX-HS, it has the power to EASILY burn a spinnerbait. Thats what they are made for; thats what you plan to use it for; so why settle for the 6.3:1?

One thing you have to keep in mind is that the new reels like the Zillion, Revo, and Curado 200 all have the new 'HEG' type gears in them. These new gearings systems are very robust and until you have cranked one under the load of a lure, then it is hard to describe the power and torque that these reels can generate. They are definitely built for speed and power.

or you could wait for the 4.9:1 to come out (soon).
