Revo Spools

Post by Bottomline » Fri Feb 09, 2007 12:38 pm

Can anyone tell me if the Revo's come with a spare reel. When I purchased my ABU SM 3000 several years back it came with a spare spool.

I really wish abu or someone would come out with another spool for the stx that was at most half the current weight!

I agree 12Yan, but I wonder if the lighter spool would hold up to the rigors of such a powerful drag? It should....

The spool for a Revo STX is part number 1125788. You should be able to buy this as a spare part from ABU. Looking at the drawing, there may be 4-5 other small parts you need (bearings, clips, etc) to make it a complete, quickly interchangable assembly.

As for a lighter STX spool I am not aware of any, but have never searched.

The Revo Premier is now out. It "looks" identical to the STX and weighs almost 28% less (8.8 oz vs. 6.35 oz). Some of the weight reduction comes from less bearings, and different Alum alloy in the frame, and plates. However the hole pattern in the spool looks different than the STX and may indicate it is lighter. Both reels are advertised (Cabelas Fall Fishing catalog) as having infinity II spools.

No idea whether these spools are interchangable, but if you are seriously interested you could ask ABU parts or customer service.

Good luck and let us know if you learn anything.

Forgot to mention both STX and Premier reels list drag as 24 pounds.

The Premier spool is lighter and is interchangable with the STX.

LED,

Are you sure the Premier spool fits the STX? If it would like to get a few.

At a recent casting event we interchanegd the Premier and STX spools between reels to no ill effect.

I had posted that same question: if premier and STX are interchangable? if yes that is great...

anyone had problems with the Premier Centr brake sys? I saw one post suggesting problems with the pins moving on their own.

Looking at the 2 reels side by side the other day at BPS, it appeared that the Premier spool was narrower than the STX. It appeared to be quite noticeable. Are my eyes getting bad, or is that the case?

Is it possible the Premier spool is narrower, and still fits?
