Revo STX and 1/4 oz lures

Post by D.R. » Sat Mar 10, 2007 3:53 pm

I was throwing a R. Clunn LC .5, 1/4 oz lure this morning with a REVO STX on a Kistler LTA66M. The reel did just fine throwing that light a bait. I don't think it will handle anything any lighter with this rod. But it did ok with the 1/4 oz lure.

Cool D.R., I sorta guessed it would handle the 1/4oz range decently glad to hear their continueing to keep you going on them. Im waiting some time before I go all out with them. ;)

Keep us posted on any new findings bud, expecially if you can cross referance the bearings.

Thanks for the update DR. We are always interested to hear about updates on these new reels that have come out wheather we like them or not. I cant remember anyone claiming this was going to be a finesse reel.

I can throw 3/16oz plastics on my STX all day long. Tackle Tour got it right when they said you can cast every lure in your tackle box with this reel.

247,

I have not tried anyting lighter than 1/4. As a matter of fact, I don't have anything lighter than 1/4 oz.

Yes, mine casts 1/4 oz lures very well. I have casted 1/4 oz spinnerbaits and buzzbaits with mine and it does great with them. I have also pitched 1/8-3/16 oz texas rigged plastics with it and it does that great as well. I really do love these reels...

Thanks for the update boys! I just picked my Revo STX HS in Cinncinati last week, and hopefully it will be united with a Crucial 6'10" MH 1/4 to 3/4 oz rod in the next 2 - 3 weeks. What type of line are using to throw these light of lures with ?

Caught 4 today using my Revo/Spectra, 15lb powerpro with a 1/4 oz spinnerbait, never tried anything lighter.

BTW, a spinnerbait's stated weight is usually based on the head alone; so a "¼ oz" spinnerbait is actually darn close to ½ oz after you've added the wire, hook, swivel, o-ring and blade(s).

I was throwing a 1/4 oz Rick Clunn LC .5 crank. I had no trailers or skirts. Just the crank.

how do you compare the casting distance of the stx with it's competitors?
i think that's what mot people are curious about.

Oolie,

Look back at some of my post about the STX.

I sold every low profile reel I had and went to the STX. From 2 Steez down to Alphas from Daiwa and Chronarchs, curados, ETC. I sold them all.

That is what I think about the STX.

Just my Opinion, and when I am the one fishing with them, that is the only opinion I count. =))))
