Best lure from the shore?
Best lure from the shore?
What lure preforms the best for you from the shore?

Spinner bait.

I'm starting to like the chatterbait more and more. It can be fished with a few different actions and you can stop and pick a wood tick off your neck while you are reeling back to shore, get back to fishing and you can start up just about right where you left off.
Fish it like a jig, spinnerbait or crankbait. (I think that is what it claims on the package). Its a wild acting bait, works well in the farm ponds I fish.

spinnerbait, chatterbait, plastic worm, buzzbait, small popper, and baby 1- are about the only baits i ever use in a pond now i know you asked for the best but those all work great for me

Can't go wrong with a MizMO tube or Swim-Jig...

In asking your question you didn't say what you were targeting from shore. I fish for a variety of fish from shore and have different lures for targeting different fish.
I have to agree with D.R. on this one spinner baits first for bass, if they don't produce most of the time they will, then I change up to top water or shallow divers (2 to 3 feet).

Any day you can wet the worm is better than a day at work

sorry, bass
Re: Best lure from the shore?
I would have to agree with the senko.
It casts a mile, and can be fished at level of the water column
Your mobility from shore is limited so you have to really work a spot.
Slow and Methodical are my choices.
After the senko I would go with a drop shot or hollow body frog.
nice and easy does it.

Torpedos, Pop Maxs, Jitterbugs, Sammys, Senkos, Fat Ikas, Flukes, Vision 110s, Vision 95s(very good off shore jerk), spinnerbaits, and a good ol' buzzbait.
The good thing about fishing from shore is you get to get all them shallow Largemouths that get overlooked a lot by the guys on boats. You can get them bigger topwater and jerks way out there and work different water depths really well.

What they want.
Usually for me here it has been SBs since 1997...but this year, due to the late ice-out in March, there has been a HUGE carry over of yearling sunfish and yellow perch.
Suddenly the SB bite is dead and still is as of today while shallow cranks, rattlebaits, and plastics are up.
Otherwise it is SB/buzzbaits, shallow-med cranks, rattlebaits, topwaters, plastics/jigs, minnowbaits.
About the same as what is effective from a boat IMO. Depends on the body of water, time of year, water temp, clarity, depth, structure, etc...just like from a boat.
The only lures that don't work as well for me are deep cranks and carolina rigs due to the fact that these lures often are better in deeper water and deeper structure. That being said however, 3/4oz + SBs have their place very often from shore as being very effective.

Make sure you take swimming lesson before throwing those expensive bait like vision 110s and popmax from shore.GAMEOVER wrote:Torpedos, Pop Maxs, Jitterbugs, Sammys, Senkos, Fat Ikas, Flukes, Vision 110s, Vision 95s(very good off shore jerk), spinnerbaits, and a good ol' buzzbait.

Think snag proof, it will save you alot of swearing on a bad day. know your lake contour/depth before thowing those cranks, working a dt10 on a 7 fow might be a good idea on a boat, but not from the shore line.

Don't forget about the lipless crankbait.

Re: Best lure from the shore?
I use a small spinnerbait first, then go to a small lipless crank, then if neither of those work, I'll usually try various plastics like baby brush hogs, senkos, and flukes.
