“WIZARD OF RODS” RESIGNS AS PRESIDENT OF AIRRUS RODS

Post by kbookert » Fri May 18, 2007 4:01 am

This is no joke, just received the notification.

:crying: ](*,)

Without Ken, how long will it be till AiRRUS just becomes just another rod company?

"FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 15, 2007

“WIZARD OF RODS” RESIGNS AS PRESIDENT OF AIRRUS RODS

Las Vegas, NV. In a surprise move Ken Whiting, dubbed “THE WIZARD OF RODS” by Field & Stream writer John Merwin, has resigned as President of Airrus Rods, the company he founded in 2002, effective immediately. Ken did not cite any reasons for his resignation, but did say that there would be additional press releases at a later date that would serve to explain the reasons for his surprise move and that all of the reasons were extremely positive and that the split was totally amiable.

During his tenure, Airrus has garnered numerous industry and media awards including four ICAST “Best of Show” awards in the rod category, with three of them being back to back. Ken’s outstanding advances in innovation and technology have taken Airrus from an unknown industry start up in 2002 to that of a recognized industry leader in both areas in the short span of five years.

In a brief statement Ken said, “The hardest part of making the decision to leave Airrus were the customers. There are so many that have been extremely loyal and supportive of Airrus and are really the ones that can be credited with much of the success that Airrus has enjoyed. To each and every one of you that I have come to know, many of whom have become very close friends, this not the end, it is just the beginning. Trust me on that one”."

Well thats a bummer. I know Ken has a lot of expertise with regards to graphite and lets face it there's opportunities out there for knowledgeable people with graphite specialties. Golf particularly is an unbelievable growth opportunity around the world. Snidley

There's lots to do at a fast-growing company besides the functions of President. Maybe he's just focusing his efforts...

Just because he's stepping down as President doesn't necessarily mean he's leaving the company. He's always been an emerging technologies sort of guy hasn't he? The role of President can be a real burden for a technologist. ;)

All this Airrus talk is making me impatient. I've got some rods on backorder.

Actually he is leaving the company totally. If you call the contact number you get Castaway Rods.

This is actually goodnews for your airrus guys. Castaway has bought airrus and you will most likely see fuji components on your sticks in the near future. If ken stays on then he should have more tools to work with to create new things.

However, you guys had to see this coming. There was no way that Airrus could survive the way it was going with all their supply issues. They needed a shakeup no matter how that ultimately ends up to survive.

My biggest concern is will they keep the AiRRUS warranty policies? The customer service aspect will never be the same without Ken there.

They are Texans you can bank on the same great warranty policies, and customer service. I would say even better more responsive service becuase you'll have more bodies.
