You Guys are sooo lucky!!!! El Salto, New 2008 Shimano gear and the Jimmy Houston Show all in one!!!! IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT!! By the way, I met Jimmy Houston at a B.A.S.S. workshop a few years ago and I must say he is a true gentleman and quite the charachter! I'm sure you had a blast with him.
Thanks for the update and for giving me some time to save up for some more new gear! Where to start? Spinning? Casting? OK bait monkey you twisted my arm Both!!!!

I haven't seen the new hook hanger/holder, but I wonder if it's something like what Grit Design has been using since this is a great idea >

it's alot better that the hook hanger would be behind the reel seat, that way the line can't hang on the hook hanger, it's an all too common problem.

I use the 400/2.8 for wildlife and mostly sports. Some spot news as well (I'm a photojournalist). My current gear tally is:

D200 +MB200
D2H
D1H (old and beat up, used for remote camera work)
Sigma 8mm fisheye
AF-S Nikkor 12-24mm f4
AF-S Nikkor 17-35mm f2.8
AF Nikkor 60mm f2.8 micro
AF Nikkor 85mm f1.4
AF-S Nikkor 80-200mm f2.8
AF Nikkor 300mm f4 (I sold my 300/2.8 recently)
AF-S NIkkor 400mm f2.8
Four (4) SB-600 speedlights + gels
SU-800 speedlight commander
Four (4) White Lightning Ultra 1800 monolights
Four (4) Pocket Wizard Multi-Max's
...and whatever else I can scrounge up!

I really think the D200 is the best bang-for-the-buck out there right now. I've used/owned just about every body Nikon has produced (digital or film) and much of the Canon line as well. Depending on how much cash you want to drop, Nikon has the D2Xs out and it's certainly on my want list. Anytime you want to talk shop on photo gear, drop me a PM.

If you ever find your way to Kentucky Lake, let me know, too. I can arrange a little field time with the lens at the Elk range.

Oh yeah forgot about Shimano and their "almost non-existent" lefty market.

The left handed reels make up a small portion of the entire reel market. Due to the costs of development, tooling and everything else that is associated with creating a new reel, the return simply cannot make it worth the investment on certain models. I am not saying that we (Shimano) are not just forgetting about you left handed anglers in any way.

The left handed market is growing so expect to see more coming in the future. For now the Curado 301DSV will just have to do

I want to say that I had a great time fishing with Jack and talking about the history of TackleTour. We are working on adding a support forum on here once we all have to time to figure out the details. For now I will surf this site periodically and answer Shimano related questions. I will not be talking about any new product until I have been given the green light. I can say that the new reels and rods are phenomenal!!

I worked closely with Robby on the rods and I was glad to see smiles and hear nothing but good things about them at Salto. I hope you all are as pleased with them as the rest of us were. If you like the MH model then you can thank me later
