For me, where you can catch from .5 to 7lb. on any cast, my Powell 682cef with a Shimano 50mg has been a killer combo. However, I reserve the right to change once I put all this high $ stuff together that ya'll made me by.

My favorite is my Otterods 2-pc custom St. Croix LE 5C68MXF paired with my TD SOL L. Being a shore angler, I usually just go out with one combo and almost always I end up grabbing this one.

That was the stick I originally intended this reel to go on but I just fell in love with it for everything. ;)

This was a great question....and some teriffic answers to something I
think a bunch of us can sure relate to..guess this dyed-in-the-wool Shimano guy will have to learn more about....especially Pixillas and ITO-inspired
reels.
