Scorpion 1000/1001 packs the most bang for the buck. Otherwise, the Pixy is your reel.

I own a D.R. Pixy, Conquest 51, Scorpion 1000 and Scorpion 1001 MG but they're not going to cast lures as light as being mentioned without the proper rod. That will cost some $$$'s too and is part of the equation for sure.

You are absolutely correct.

The reel is only part of the equation. The rod is critical to casting light baits any distance and with ease.

The last part is the person doing the casting. I know a guy that after 45 years of fishing creates the most incredible backlashes in the western hemisphere. His grandson uses my Pixy and casts into the wind all day without the first problem.

I'ved owned several that will do what you're looking for.

These are:
Shimano Scorpion 1000/1001
Shimano Scorpion 1000mg/1001mg
Daiwa Alphas or Alphas Ito
Daiwa Sol
Daiwa Pixy

I personally pitch light stuff (1/16-1/4 oz) with 2 souped up 1000MG's, and I recently purchased a couple Daiwa Pixys, The Pixys are the best under 1/4 oz throwing reel I've ever owned. They REALLY shine when throwing 1/8' oz'ish stuff!

My vote goes to a red Daiwa Pixy! 8-)

Thanks alot for all the help. I think I have decided on the Chronarch 51mg and the Kistler Helium 2 LTX He2MC70. What are your thoughts on this rod and its ability to throw ribbontails or lizards (weightless). I was also looking at the Kistler mg rods, but those LTX's look sweet.

I use a Powell 682CEF for weightless worms & don't think you could get much better for the money. It is amazingly light & has an extra fast tip. With no for-grip I can place my index finger on the blank to help with those light bites.

I have a steez on it & can outcast spinning reels with a 4-6" weightless Zoom trick worm in most situations.
