What new tackle to use in 2008?
What new tackle to use in 2008?
Just about every year there is a new bait, lure, line rod, reel, etc. that takes the fishing world by storm. Any thoughts of what to look out for next year?

Boy, who knows? This is like one of those stock market or horse racing questions... if you knew, you might be able to retire next year.
If I had to guess, I'd say, first off, that it won't be a rod or reel. There was some really nice stuff brought out at ICAST, but nothing revolutionary in the ordinary mid to lower high-end price range. Same goes for line.
If it's a bait, looking at what I read as recent trends, it goes away from the finesse craze, which has been dying down for some time after making it's mark, and we'll see something in the spinnerbait/lipless crank/swimbait general area. Think about the chatterbait last year, for example. What about something like a "topwater swimbait"? Hybrids between hard baits and soft plastics seem to be increasingly trendy, too.
Dunno, we'll have to wait and see. But someone will win a B.A.S.S. event or an FLW tournament using one, though, whatever it is.

May be revolutionary to actually fish with an E-21 and take a bite out of the butt when you are in need of a healthy snack......eh, wassup doc? got any ranch dressing? Seriously though, it will be interesting to see and hopefully fish with one of those carrot stix.da house of hardy #1 wrote:those E-21 rods look good

Everything gets more and more expensive every year. The next generation Curados will be $300+.

I like the redesigned Shimano FE spinning reels (if they work as expected).

New and improved hook designs are coming - better offset worms hooks and Owner just started a sickle style hook.
Also, I predict that there will be a better braid out very soon!

I would like to see a braid line that allows some stretch and is more rounder and smoother but is not mono. I don't what material that would be.

in the words of one of our worst presidents, "i feel your pain."
when i was a kid of a boy, my first grade teachers would rap my knuckles every time i picked up a pencil or a piece of paper with my left hand.
according to them, whatever you did with your left hand was the "devil's" work.
apparently, shimano's suits had the same teachers.
