Yep Larry has always been a great fisherman...just a very astute angler for just about any type fish and an excellent commander of the rod/reel when fighting the fish as well. Notice his constant monitoring of the drag, compensation of drag power with his palm and also how he used the rod differently depending on when the fish ran, when he need to power lift it, etc.

The reel being able to handle the sailfish is admirable, but it is the controlling of the sailfish by Larry and the maneuvering of the boat that really made it possible. Team win.
