LC Bevy Shad 100 Thoughts?

Post by kenshomi » Fri Sep 21, 2007 5:19 pm

I am thinking of buy a few Bevy shad to throw at fall smallies here in MI.
The Pointer is a winner and I am looking to go a little deeper with a lure that is more like the Shad Rap RS - At almost three times the price is it worth it?

IMHO I can't say that the Bevy is worth two or three times the money as the new deeper running XRaps. I'd definately go with the Rapala.

The bevy shad is among the best bass catcher by lucky craft. I use it often! I don't think there's a bevy shad 100 though! I think it's 78 for the biggest! it outfishes rapala every time for me! I guess it's just confidence!

With Luckies for Bass and Pike I would say they go like this.
Flashminnow
Pointer
Pointer Deep
Classic Leader
Slender Pointer
Staysee
Bevy Shad
Moonsault

For Salmon
Staysee
Pointer deep
Pointer
Flashminnow
Bevy Shad

Also don't forget Jackal especially the Squad Minnow They are killer baits for Bass, Pike and salmon

I like shad raps, x shad raps over the bevy shad. I have caught bass just the other lure have out fished the bevy shad. For the money yor can get 2 for 1.

Guys, Some of you guys are using a allen wrench for a screw with a phillips head.

The Lucky Craft baits especially the Bevy is very technique specific. The Bevy shad not only dives deeper than the X rap but also dives faster. The Bevy is a great bait when fishing around boat docks where you only have a very limited amount of strike zone (the lenght of the dock) and need to get to the desired depth very quickly. This is the advantage that the Bevy Shad has over other baits like the Pointer, Flashminnow etc.

There is only a Bevy 75 and 60. No Bevy 100.

Jackal also has the RK 150 and 225 as well as the D and DD Cherry. They are almost a Japanese Shad Rap RS. Yozuri makes a group of diving baits in the Hardcore series that are excellent as well. Evergreen has the Predator and Tiny Predator as well as the Spin Move shad in this catagory of baits but I have not tried them myself. Shad Rap style baits work so eveyone makes them and I guess LC's Bevy Shad is amongst the best looking. I personally have done well with the Striped Shad colour for salmon but never had much succes with them for Bass. That said with the seemingly endless drought we have here in Oakville there is little opportunity to run deeper baits for Bass for me. Snidley
