Confessions of a Monkey slave

Post by DougL58 » Sun Sep 23, 2007 9:16 pm

Padre forgive me, I have purchased. It has been 2 weeks since my last confession. I have been strong and abstained (or at lease reduced) my tackle purchases until recently. I don’t know what came over me.

First it was an Alphas 103, the purple one. Of course I always knew in the back of my head I just had to see what it looked like mounted on a new Carrot Stix. Purple and Orange!

From there the Monkey just ran amuck! A TD-Z 103H and a new Puls-r rod. And then off the deep end with a new Core and a Cumara! Oh yes.. there was a new Sol in there somewhere, 600 yards of Defier, 10 or 40 baits. It’s all kind of a blur.

I feel better now but I still feel a tug for a new Kistler or Dobyns or Powell. When will it stop? Is there medication I can take?

By the way Padre, any recommendations on a crank bait rod? Small to medium baits.

Can I get an AMEN!!!

You might as well pick up your credit card or Paypal account and trot on over to the enthusiast section, where every little tiny piece of self disipline you ever had will evaporate as fast as a spec of sweat in the Mojave Desert. You, my lost friend, have already succumbed.

And, it will not be the Padre you will need to confess to anymore. :evil22:

Cal, you got another one. 8-)

I'm Ron, it has been 3 days since my last purchase, mainly because some S*%$ outbid me.

WHAT FOR ?!?!?!?!?!

I don´t get it, it´s like enjoying to drink spiritous beverages til you drop and asking not to get the hangover. Can´t have both. [-X

Besides, you fight fire with fire, screw them extinguishers.

My accountant just called. Apparently if you can show your tackle expenditures are due to an illness they are tax deductible! All you need is a note for TT with the diagnosis Terminal Tackleitus. What a relief!

Yeah I understand. I just conciously decided that I needed a Scorpion Mg with ZPI Carbon handle, SIC bearings, mounted on a G.Loomis BCR853. I also decided that I needed a few more (60) football jigs, 2 or 10 Mattlures bluegill, four or five spools of Sniper, and some of those fun LC D-12s and 20s. But don't worry, I plan on getting most of my gear once I get to Del Rio. I also decided that I needed a CBR845 in case my other one broke.
The gear monkey made me buy a new 101 # Minn Kota 36V 52" trolling motor, an Optima battery, and a Lowrance 480m for the front of my boat.

The sad part is that I am a junior in high school, work a part time job, and fish tournaments. I am afraid that I caught an early case.

And I thought TT stood for Tackle Tour.

I believe one of the more devlish processes that Terminal Tackleitis exposes you to is the enormous, invisible, and irresistable change from 'want one' to need one. From 'need one' to 'need three'. Doesn't matter what it is, if one is good, five has got to be better.

Need, need, need.

Terminal Tackleitis creates a bunch of Needy people. Like the guy in the House of the Rising Sun, I know I'm one. ;)
