Bantam Curado vs. New Citica?
For around $100.00 I can get a brand new Citica or for around $85 a used bantam curado in good shape. Which would you recommend?

I would say to spend the extra $15 and get the Citica 100. It has less plastic parts than the Bantam Curado and my Dad owns the Citica 100...I've fished it a few times and it's a very nice reel for the money.

Which size of reel were you asking about? The Citica 200D has the super free pinion gear and the High effeciency gearing plus a better drag that the old 200 curado does not. Also like Frog Pond11 mentioned less plastic. The old 100 curado and the new 100 citica are very comparable the citca has less plastic than the curado but the curado has one more bearing. I own two of the old green curados and one of the new citicas I would take the citica over the old curado.

I like the older Curados better than the new Citica 200s. Even though on paper the Citica looks better, I still get better performance from the Cu200Bs. I'm always in the market for green Curados.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm leaning towards the citica but the green curados are considered such a reliable reel. It sounds like I'll be happy with either.

Speaking of the old Greens, did anyone notice that Ben Matsubu was using one at the Toho T? I think Steve Kennedy still uses them as well ... Considering these are playing for BIG money, what keeps the old Greens on there? I am sure comfort/reliability is one thing, but could that be it?

Even though I dont have the "big money", nor do I fish for it, I tend to grad my old Curados and Chronarchs as much or more than I do my new Chronarchs and even Calais'. They are so comfortable to me and I love to fish with them. Maybe they feel the same way.....

Size may have something to do with it: the D series Curado and Citicas 200 are significantly larger (and heavier) than the old 200B were.
