That time of the year again, new casting reel!

Post by JFB » Tue Dec 27, 2005 1:44 pm

Im in the market for a new casting reel, Im heading over to gander mountain on fridayto get it. Im going to use this reel for the pond bass that can grow over seven pounds! Its going to have to be versatile because I don't feel like lugging multiple combos 5 blocks.

This reel must.....

......Be compact, I have small hands.

......Fit the bill of $150

......be able to cast everything from weightless worms to crankbaits, to spinnerbaits, to topwater and minnowbait

I've had my eye on a few

You can move up to the Pflueger President and be under the $150.

"Be compact, I have small hands. " none of those reels are compact. I have small hands and after getting the scorpion im gettin rid of my curados cue to there size. Scorpion is a GREAT reel and will do all you ask from it. BUT out of those reels id go with the Citica or accurissssst.

You cannot go wrong with the Citica. They are smooth.

the bps catalog outlet store in springfield missouri had a left handed daiwa fuego for $115. regular 229.95. they said it was brought back but has never been used. this is one great buy. i have the fuego and it's one awsome reel. the pfluegers are good to. i have the trion and the president and you can't go wrong with either of these reels. but if i was you i would call the bps catalog outlet store to see if they still have it. hope this helps.

James, it sounds to me like you are describing a Scorpion 1000. IMHO, it would be perfect for you. ;)

As mentioned above, I recommend the Scorp 1k also but I know you said you're going over to Gander Mt.

Unless you have a coupon and can't wait, I would order from profishing.net or Brooklyn Billy
