Need a new Baitcasting Reel... "Help"

Post by Smallmouth » Sat Mar 25, 2006 3:06 pm

I am looking for a new low-profile baitcasting reel. I wan't to spend under $150. It will be used for throwing spinner baits, jerkbaits, crankbaits, top-water and will double for light line trolling. I will be catching Bass, Pike, Walleye and Lake Trout with it. Please give me your suggestions for the best "bang for buck"!!! Thanks

Okuma VS200 is a product to look into...

and the Team Daiwa Advantage 153HST super tuned...

both are sweet reels and will give you what you are looking for in that price range.

VS200 around @ $119.00
TDA 153HST @ 149.00

last i checked...

Good luck.

Yo smallmouth, sounds like you want something with some drag to it. I've been looking also and I'm pretty much sold on the Shimano Citica w/ the Dartanium drag and if it casts anything like the old Curado SF's it should be well worth the $120.

Best bang for the buck under $150.00 = Shimano Citica $119.99. A great reel for any price.

A no brainer, Pflueger President and it retails for $129.99. I have two and it is clearly the best reel I have for throwing spinnerbaits, crankbaits and buzzbaits. :D

I have a Daiwa 153HSTL and love it. It has a fast retrieve and good drag.
