other than the weight issue, do these reels handle the same?

if the 100D magnumlite spool weighs the same as the MG wiffle spool, casting performance should be nearly identical, though since the MG spool is riding on ARBs i think it may have a slight edge...

I hope the answer is generally Yes. The drag on the Curado should be better then the one on the MG. I love my MG and am considering a Curado

The curado 100d has a 10lb drag ,dartanium drag washers,it also has the arb bearings.for some reason the 100d seems to feel more solid even thought its the same reel as the mg except for the mg frame, side plates are still graphite.

Phatbass-

Does the 100D cast as well as the MG50? Even with the lighter baits? Thanks

dave,
I had a 50mg and a curado 100b that i put the spool from the mg in it.but I have not tried the 100d ,I only held one at the tackle shop.with the weight of the new spool on the 100d and a set of abec 7 bearings they should be the same.

i didnt think that the 100D made use of the ARBs. i thought that was another advantage of the 50MG. the bearings in the curado are not exposed, meaning they arent ARBs right?

The differences between the two reels are:

1.- Magnesium Frame ( 1.5 ounces lighter )
2.- Spools
3.- Drag, the ChMg does not have Dartanium drag.

Raul- could the bearings be different? The TT reviews call all bearing type in the MG review but not the 100D which just says 4BB. Thanks

i still havent found anywhere that states that the 100D uses ARBs. every other reel that uses them says so in shimanos catalog. and i still thought that ARBs were not sheilded, as the ones in the curado 100D are. i just want to be 100% sure, not trying to argue

Download the Shimano on-line catalog, the information on the bearings appears there, that information does not appear at the Shimano web page.

that is where i looked, all the reels that use ARBs say so and the Curado information says nothing about them

All the new Curados have ARB bearings, the only thing the Curado 100D doesn´t have is the HEG, that´s only found in the 200 models.
