Heavy pressure? Get a 1/4 spinnerbait, take the skirt off and put on a swimbait. I don't have a preference for the spinnerbait color, but I find a flashy silver swimbait usually does the trick.

natural colors, skimpy skirts. if the water is gin clear i would fish a swim jig instead of a spinnerbait and for bouncing, hopping jigs on the bottom, match the jig color to the bottom color. rocks=black/brown, sand=browns/pumpkins, grass/weeds=green. skimpy skirts to give the fish less to see, keeps them guessing until its too late

I like a 3/8 River2Sea Bling Spinnerbait in Abalone Shad.
As far as jigs, I really like the California Reservoir Lures Jigs, Especially the Antenna Series. Hand tied skirts, choice of hook size and A LOT of great colors. www.californiareservoirlures.com

I use War Eagle spinnerbaits & for clear water I usually use double willow blades in the Blue Herring or White Chart Pearl in color.

RMD spinnerbait in pond smelt, if you really want to downside, use the beatle spin wire and attach a hair jig or a small fluke style bait. Don't forget the roadrunner heads with small plastics also.
