Fav. bladed swim jig?

Jig it, spin it, buzz it, if it's got a wire or a lead head, it can and will be discussed in here.

I used original Chatterbaits since they hit the market. I have done very well with them but don't like hook. I am going to try some D&M Piranha swim jigs. They seem to be better quality.

This is why I make my own bladed jigs. My best five from yesterday 5/5/13 went about 30lbs.

Thanks. When conditions are right (wind, cloud cover) and the fish aren't relating to big schools of bait the bladed jig is my #1 choice.

Have always been intrigued though as I am always looking for different ways to fish a jig.

Revenge for use with paddletail trailers, the Z-man works fine for me with fluke style trailers, never had any problems with hooks or any of that. D.O.A. makes the best fluke trailer I have found. They have excellent durability and are a thinner profile than most.

Don't throw them a bunch, but I gave up on the original when I started seeing oxidized hooks, while still in the package on the store shelf...not a good sign...and this was not uncommon.

The original Chatterbait hooks are pathetic. I honestly think that they are made of tin. I have never seen a hook that bends as easily. The Elite Chatterbait is much better, but way overpriced.

I like the Chatterbait Pro 2 with the weed guard if fishing around cover. I also like the D & M Piranha, a high quality bait. The Revenge is good too, although it is more subtle since the blade is not actually clacking against the head. It puts out a good amount of vibration though.

Chatterbait is the only company that I have tried that has gotten away with producing really low quality (apparently their patent allows them to get away with it). Most of the other manufacturer's products seem okay. I don't know how the Revenge extended wire will hold up against big fish. My backseater's throw it, but they haven't caught any over 5lbs. I will tell you that the Mustad hook on the Barlow's heads is pretty damn strong. I horsed in a 10.2 in a tournament on 50lb braid and I got it in the boat in a few seconds. I also recently caught a 9 with 20lb. fluoro in a hurry. The only fish that has flexed this hook is a 15-20lb catfish rolling on the shore while I was attempting to get the hook out.

I really like the O.S.P bladed jig. It is expensive compared to the usual suspects but well worth it! Not just another jig head with a blade attached to it.
