I usually use 3/8 oz, and sometimes 1/2.
I have not used heavier jigs like 3/4 and 1 oz, but I need to get some to fish in deeper waters say 15-20 feet or more.
Another fishery application is the Volga River in Russia in the Volgograd area. I fished the Volga before, and it has 20-ft deep water and heavy current. I only had a 3/8, so I added a slip sinker for more weight to get it down to where the fish were staged. No bass, but other types. I need to be better prepared when I fish it again.
I prefer an Arkie head jig, or something similar, with factory-equipped rattles. Or maybe I should use a different head.
Second choice is a football head.
I have searched some online stores, but I can't find what I am looking for.
I would appreciate advice on types. brands, and where to buy them.
Thanks.
Fred

I reviewed the NorthStar and Dirty jigs on some websites, and the descriptions sound impressive.
There are numerous models under each brand, and I reviewed 5 or 6 types.
None that I reviewed have rattles.

Fred

missed the part where u wanted rattles. for what it's worth, i was at bass pro a few months ago and followed Scott Martin around as he shopped for himself. I watched as he loaded his cart and he grabbed a bunch of booyah jigs with rattles.BlaineFred wrote:Thanks Chode...Chode wrote:from my experience the way to go is north star or dirty jigs. i don't see any reason to stray from either
