Which Swim Jig

Jig it, spin it, buzz it, if it's got a wire or a lead head, it can and will be discussed in here.

Which Swim Jig

Post by bob75 » Thu Jan 22, 2015 6:23 am

It is time for me to buy more swim jigs. I'm considering the Brovarney swim jigs as they appear to have a substantial wire bait keeper.

Are there other favorites that I should consider?

Thanks!

Definitely take a look at Dirty Jigs. They have many models, colors, sizes, etc. I get mine from Tackle Warehouse.

keitech's version is a unique design worth looking at. I really like them and they have a great hook.

Revenge have great colors and realistic head and great hook. Very thin profile helps it slither through grasses better than any other swimjig

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

I ended up going with the Brovarney swim bait primarily because it had the type of trailer keeper I wanted and because I could get the jig with out a skirt.

I've many hundreds of silicone tabs that I will never use so this will make a dent in the numbers.

I have some swim jigs, and I would greatly appreciate your opinions.

Here we go.

OutKast Pro Swim Jig. 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2. No rattles. 30-degree Mustad Round bend hook. Double barb baitkeeper.
Outkast claims "True balanced head design to allow the jig to swim straight.

I note that SOME of the lighter colors like white/chart have strands of silver threads mixed in with the silicone skirts. The line tie is slightly above the tip, so it's not tied to a bullet head.

Strike King KVD Tournament Series. Has rattles. "Medium wire ultra-sharp" extra long shank hook. Line tie is slightly above the tip. Not exactly a bullet head. (I looked for this jig on TW but I didn't find it there.)

Strike King Tour Grade Swimming Jig. No rattles. It says that it has a "Medium wire ultra-sharp" hook. (I looked for this jig on TW but I didn't find it there.) Except for the lack of rattles. Looks like the KVD model above except that the head has an eye. The head seems to be very large.

Booyah Swim'n Jig. Has rattles. Line tie is at the tip.

Asakura Baits Swim Jig. No rattles. Mustad Ultra Point, 2-extar degree super widened hook. Made in the USA,

I have some All Terrain Grassmaster Grass jigs that have a bullet head.

http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/All_Terr ... ATTGJ.html

It seems to me that a grass jig with its bullet head would make an excellent swim jig.

I note that All Terrain also makes a swim jig. It's at http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/All_Terr ... ATTSJ.html

The swim jig has a fancier head, but the design is very similar.

Any thoughts on using a grass jig as a swim jig?
