Favorite small spinnerbait

I'm not talking a 1/4oz standard frame bait. I'm talking Pond Magic, Mini King, etc. I do a lot of wading in small creeks around Kansas City and even Ozark creeks you can't really float, even in good water. I found the Pond Magic to be good, but the little willow blades seem to foul really easily. I found, on ebay, the Jackall Deraspin in 1/4oz. It casts like a rocket, fishes great, catches fish. I pulled 2 from this clearish water pond by the house in an hour this morning with bluebird skies. I tossed it on my Deep South 6'6 M spinning rod with 15lb Daiwa X4 and an 8lb copoly leader. Honestly, I think it may be the ticket on those days where the bite is tough or you're in really skinny water for smaller fish.

Normally, I'm chucking a 3/8oz Slingbladez on my 6'3 MXF spinnerbait rod with 12lb copoly, so this is a change of pace.

Strike King Rocket Shad
Length /height the 1/4,3/8,1/2 Rocket Shads are smaller than the 3/16 Pond Magic.

Take a watch on this video and what happens when a large bass strikes V shaped spinners... underwater footage shows something interesting...

May check into them. When wading, I often use a single rod so I'm carrying baits in my pocket and what not, smaller is good. Thanks for the heads up on some of these guys.

This! They look odd but cast like a bullet because they are so compact. Great option to cover water with a long cast and fast retrieve.

Not sure, but towards beginning. The whole video is worth watching, but what you will see are big bass inhaling the entire v shaped lure and spitting it back out with no hookset. Not possible with a lure shaped like that when the entire lure is inhaled. Video shows how useless it is for large bass. Smaller bass they work fine, but the video shows how it does not work on large bass. And for this reason I use inline spinners and my hookup ratio is much better.

I'm a big fan of the Nichols Mini 33 and Elite Lo Pro. Contact them direct and they'll do any color combo you want, great people to deal with

I also have been hunting for the prefect pond and creek spinnerbait.

Around where I live there is a popular salt/brackish lure called a "Perch Pounder". It's a tiny single bladed spinnerbait used to fish for White Perch. They are mostly made and sold by local guys via local tackle shops.

If you can find something like that, they work great for smaller bass. I have also started tinkering with the SK Pond King lures. I wire tie the skirts on, upgrade the swivels, and have started changing out the blades. I have not used them enough to have a real good idea how they will work but so far I am liking them. Even with upgraded swivels and new blades they are still a very inexpensive lure.

I’ve got some little 3/16 Stanley spinnerbaits. But I can’t remember where I got them. They are the same size as the small 1/8 Strike Kings but are just a bit heavier, and more Castable.

SK Micro King works very well for me. They run true, weigh 1/16 oz and are very reasonably-priced. I catch a ton of bass all summer long in my little ponds close to the house. With thin braid and a light drag setting, I've landed fish up to 5# with them, so they are also pretty durable to be so small.
