Big Power Worms??

Post by bhyatt6 » Mon Mar 28, 2011 5:48 am

I've heard guys kick other guys balls in on my local tour using 8" 10" even up to 12" power worms... do you have any tips on how to use them and where the presentation is best?

I fish them with a 4/0 or 5/0 offset worm hook gamy.
Mostly fish them up hill on offshore structure, (humps, creek channels, ledges... anywhere a Carolina rig would work).

Submerged weed beds and through deep brush piles seem to be good also.

i fish 'em anytime, anywhere...there is never a time i don't have a zoom ole monster tied on somewhere on the boat...6/0 gammie superline ewg.

i rarely fish a smaller worm anymore.
don't cry because it's over...smile because it happened.

Check out xcite baits Maximus!
Its a beast shakey worm paired with their x lock hook as I use the 5/8th and it stands up vertical..
Great bait as I've kinda moved from throwing 7" worms.. 10" is pretty standard now..

My favorite baits are Zoom Mag II's and Ole Monsters. I Texas/Carolina rig them with 4/0 and 5/0 hooks. They'll catch fish of all sizes, I've caught 8" rockbass on 10.5" Ole Monsters.

I use 10 inch power worms a lot in the summer. I usually tx rig on a 5/0 hook. I also use the darker colors night fishing.

I use them post-spawn on the first dropoffs outside of the spawning flats. Tx rig 5/0 hook 1/4 to 3/8 oz weight. I stick with junebug or watermelon.

Don't be intimidated by the size...You will catch plenty of 13" fish on a 10" worm.
