Spro Bronzeye filling up with water
Anyone have advice on how to keep this from filling up with water every cast?
Re: Spro Bronzeye filling up with water
I own two and though they do take on some water, it's not every cast. Are yours torn ?
You have to be careful about sealing up every possible intrusion point. Doing so will keep the bait from taking on water, but will result in many more missed fish as the body will be unable to compress and expose the hook points.
Taking on water is the nature of the beast with these type baits. Squeezing out the water every few casts is a small price to pay for more hookups.

I've sealed up where the hook comes with and then cut a slit on top between the eyes so it doesn't fill up and air still gets out when taken by the fish..
Or I just bought the tru tungsten ones, which dont fill up..
My koppers still fills up as well and sinks

I ended up filling the bottom hole with gorilla glue, I also drilled a small hole in the back of the bait so it could collapse on hook sets. Works alot better now.

or you could just buy a higher quality frog. The spro's are the cheapest of the cheap I have found. If you can get used swamp donkeys you will see a huge difference. I never, ever, ever have to squeeze or modify them at all. The new bob tush frog is of the same basic design and it supposedly top notch as well. Both use the same custom hook which make my hook ups about 95%.
