favourite plastic shad (or swimbait)

Post by Frenchi-nico » Sat Mar 24, 2012 8:20 pm

Hello guys,

currently, we can found a huge variety of different shad. Some of them can be use with jig head, others are better with a 'swimbait hook' to fish in texan.

In France we really appreciate Japanese bait, and I'm a big keitech fan, but I'm sure American fisherman has couple different weapon to catch fish !

If you have to choose one shad for each application, which one will be ?

Thanks :D

I'm a big fan of the BigHammers and LunkerCity Shakers, both fished on homemade jigheads in 1/2oz and 3/4 oz. For a weedless bait I like the Havoc Grasspigs and Basstrixs on a weighted screwlock hook.

I have a few go-to main plastics. Charlie Brewer Sliders, Swimming minnows, Keitech swing impacts and the Zoom Flukes. Keitech fat impacts for spinnerbait or swimjig trailers are killer.

Been doing good with these this year at a local private pond. They're expensive for plastics, but if they catch fish...who cares?

Basstrix are all around fish catching machines. I also like the skinny dipper if there is grass around, it doesnt seem to hang up as much.

I'm not sure if they make it still, but wave worms used to make a plastic shad called the "Shadick", absolutely killed them on that, I also like the hudini shad, great on a drop shot and whatever else you can think of. Also like the gambler Flap'n Shad, but it floats like the fluke, its got a great big paddle tale that, as the name suggests, flaps crazily.
