How do you guys tell whether you should throw a jig Vs Tx rig creature bait? I know in thick weeds or grass a tx rig get thru better but other than that I'm never really sure which to throw so I end up throwing jigs more often because it's easier to rig.
If the water is clear I'll go with the creature but if the water has any color to it I'll use a jig.

I use 2.75 strike king bitsy tube the most. This is just my confidence lure because i can get lots of bite with this small tube.
After I get to the limit, I then change to 4 senko.

Gotta go with the baby brush hog as well...It was the first creature bait I purchased and forced myself to fish with and it still gives me the most confidence both texas rigged or cut in half as a jig trailer.

In the past few weeks I've found a new favorite and have been catching a lot of fish with it.

The FLOAT-IT Craw....actually looks like a Sweet Beaver smallie. BUT....it FLOATS! With the 2/0 hook in it!

I fish it on a modified Carolina finesse rig: 1/8 oz tungsten, small red glass bead, plastic Caroline Keeper.....6inches of line, then the Float it. This is with 8# Sunline Biwako on a Pixy.

As you pull it along the bottom the bait actually floats up.

Outfishes my Smallie Sweet Beaver 3 to 1.

Yamamoto's Flappin' Hog. Deadly in early spring when dragged through the weeds on a Perfect Worm Rig.

The original reaction innovations beaver is my go to in penetration color. I have tried alot of others and i just keep going back. The havoc pit boss is another good one with a little different action...less glide than the beav but more flap

Lizards, lizards, lizards! I'll bet there isn't a real one around Chicago for 1,000 mikes but do the bass ever love 'em. I've thrown them while in my kayak and had them hit as soon as it hits the water.

That's a hard one.

If I had to narrow it down, I doubt I could whittle it down beyond these four:

- Imakatsu Hairy Hawg
- Missile Baits D-Bomb
- LFT Hyper Freak
-Lunker City Ozmo

Choosing a solitary bait would involve small pieces of paper and a hat.

I start with the SK Smokin' Rooster. Extremely versatile and has a flat profile on the body that allows for great hooksets.

Works great on a Texas rig with a pegged sinker or on the Biffle Head.
