Favorite Craw Bait With Solid Body

Post by bob75 » Mon May 26, 2014 8:43 pm

I currently use Paca Craws both as a lure or a jig trailer. Also I use the Paca Craw Chunk as a trailer.

I' liking for a craw bait similar to the paca craw that has a solid body or mostly solid body and would appreciate any suggestions.

I actually use 2 different ones because of finesse situations. The finesse one I use which is a trailer for me 99% of the time is the River Rock Baits Jakes Craw, it is 3.5" but isn't bulky and it is perfect on the back of my finesse jigs which are like an Eakins jig. The other is also a custom but it is made by a friend in Tennessee, he bought the mold for the Guido Bugs and I get the 4" version, they are, in my opinion, the ultimate flipping craw and that is how I use them, 4" and solid. I don't like the paca just because of it being hollow,, it has a tendency to spin on a jig.

Are you looking for similar action to the paca craw?

For finesse type stuff I like power team lures craw doevre. Really nice profile, medium action, 3.5in long. Pretty durable as well. Xcite baits has some nice craws as well.

Netbait actually makes the Paca in a bait called the Paca Punch, the body is solid, it's profile is slightly different though.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, I'm looking for craw bait similar in form to the paca craw.

My 2 go-to solid body craws are the NetBait Paca Chunks (in Alabama Craw color) and Berkley Chigger Craws (in Green Pumpkin).

The Havoc Craw Fatty has a wider, flat body type that allows for a good hook gap. It is solid, and the claws have a very similar action to Paca's. I've had great success with it, and they are easy to find and very affordably priced.

The Big Bite Baits Swimming Craw is very similar to the Paca, but the front half of the body is solid. The head is hollow so you can add a rattle.

X2 The action on the Rage Tail line along with the impregnated scent make them the kind of bait that fish hold on to. The Rage Tail Craw and Lobster are awesome fish catchers as a trailer, or T-rigged.
