The business end.

I’ve got a rod tube that I suspected would have been here today coming with what I suspect will be my new Ned rods. I generally carry 2 sometimes 3. They’ll get pinned to Stella FJ’ s and or Exsence that have been begging to get unboxed. Line: simple for me. I’ve used high vis Power Pro since it was first made. I’ve used a ton of combos for these rigs over the past 8 or so years and average at or around 100 days a year on the water throwing these rigs. The hunt has been fun but of course in true TT style...costly.

For me the Ned is almost entirely a wading lure and as such I keep my gear inexpensive as it has a rough life and I view slipping and falling on my rod an inevitability.

For first combo is a custom on a MHX 6’ ML/F Shooter blank. It’s paired with a 1000 Ci4+ loaded with 8lb J-Briad to a 8-10lb fluoro leader. It’s nice and light and sensitive enough for rocky bottom fishing.

The second combo is a IMX 6400 with an 1000 FJ loaded with 6lb mono. This combo gets the nod when I am hiking into a spot where potability trumps casting distance. I also select this rod when I will be using small hairjigs and cranks in addition to the Ned.

I keep my tackle selection pretty traditional, a 1/16oz Gopher or z-man head on a half-zlinker or TRD. I also use a weedless set up fairly often when the current is up, using a Decoy Nailbomb or Owner Ultra.

HF I routinely set off on Bataan Death March wades particularly in the heat of summer when I need to walk far, cover water and stay out of the spook zone. It hasn’t ever limited my price points. I carry the same tackle on foot or floating and I fish some real remote bony water. Perhaps studs over felt ? Glad you got that shorty figured out. We conversed about it a couple years back.

Sorry to derail the thread.

The issue around here is that most of the rivers have suffered severe erosion for decades if not centuries due to intensive agriculture and now development. Once I make it down to the river it’s fine, it’s the steep muddy banks that have to be navigated that cause my yearly slip/fall or three. There are plenty of spots where I can take my nicer gear that allow a more reasonable entrance into the water, but of course those are exponentially more pressured than the ones that require bushwhacking and scrambling to get to.
