Plastic Hellgramites

Post by nickkickers » Thu May 14, 2020 11:35 am

I fish smallmouth in the Potomac and Shenandoah, nothing compares to a plastic hellgramite. Growing up Bud's Hellgramites were readily available in every store, but now I can't seem to find them anywhere! I have used the Berkely gulp with a lot of success (they are the least durable plastic ever), and I have heard of Case plastics and BPS ones but I can not find Buds hellgramites anywhere, they were super cheap and durable. Help!

I use the Bass Pro Shops hellgramite plastics. The best I have done with them is on a 1/16 or 1/8oz wacky jig head, and on a plain hook with a small shot 12" up the line in streams. Catches lots of fish.

Nikko is a good option, but I prefer the baits from a custom company called River Rock Baits. Located in the States, great customer service, and fantastic soft plastics - especially the hellgramite. You should definitely check them out. I've caught crazy amounts of smallies on them.

Eurotackle also makes one called the Anisoptera. Its 1.5in. Probably small for dedicated bass fishing but, great for those high pressure bites.

This^^^^^!!! The River Rock Helgripede is a fish catcher without a doubt!!! It is a staple for smallmouth and can be used onn a drop shot, jig head, wacky rigged, or small T- rig. I love using it with a flick-shake style head, when rigged like that it is almost impossible not to catch fish.

I'm a big fan of the Lunker City Hellgie. It's fantastic on the dropshot or as a sneaky little ned rig.
