First Mahi Mahi
Well a few weeks ago we took a trip to the Gulf. We fished 5 of the 8 days we were there. This was our most productive trip yet, after several trips and gaining knowledge of the waters we are getting the hang of it. The only thing I don't like is how rough the saltwater is on the gear.
This Mahi Mahi was 28" long. I caught him fairly close to the beach trolling a cigar minnow. We had gone out about 2.5 miles and got into Kings and Sharks, just before limiting out on Kings we called it a day and started paddling in when my bait alarm went off.

Yep, in the Panhandle (Panama City Beach)
I know, I can't wait to go back. I really enjoy Tennessee, but saltwater fish are just so much fun.l2yan wrote:Loving those colors Jeremy!
l2yan, do you have any mornings free this week? There are some hybrids, and stripers being caught near the house. I work 11am-11pm all next week so fishing from 5am-9am is an option.

I need a Dog Bone that Yak Attack carries, I sit a little too high for the Panfish and my fat head blocks most of the view. I have about 80-90G of video that I have to go thru, but I've been working 70hr+ weeks and fishing 20hrs a week so that doesn’t leave much time for luxuries like video editing. I would like to take all my videos one day and create one great 10-15 minute video.
I need to get the moisture absorbing things for the waterproof cases also, and remember to wipe off the lens while fighting a thrashing fish. Still learning.

nice catch! Btw, is that a dobyns rod you have rigged up?
Re: First Mahi Mahi
beautiful!
I've only fished salt once(honeymoon in Cabo) and we got into some Mahi Mahi(Dorado). They are possibly the perfect fish; brilliantly colored, really aggressive, tasty, and extremely fast growing.

Good eye, it's a Dobyns 795SBMT. I love it, and hopefully soon I'll be able to get the 806HSB.

I would love to go to Cabo, and fish. Very tasty, and it's even better fresh grilled.

Re: First Mahi Mahi
That's a beautiful fish! The only Mahi I've seen (not mounted or on my plate) was one I hooked into a Charter in Hawaii. I had it on for maybe 45 seconds then it went aerial and shook my hook. Well done!

Re: First Mahi Mahi
I was trolling a cigar minnow heading in to call it a day when all of the sudden line started peeling off my reel. I turned around to see it had gone aerial and was entering back into the water, and the fight was on. The fight seemed like forever, but I re-watched the video recently and was only about 10 minutes, it just didn't want to give up. I would get it close and then it would dive. It done that multiple times. My wife was able to get close to it and get the Bogas on it.
