Tica GCA800

Post by earthworm77 » Mon Oct 27, 2014 4:42 am

Anyone have any experience with this reel? I have owned several Cetus SB500's and loved them. I am in the market for a new UL reel and before I commit to another SB500, I figured I'd check out the GCA800.....both reels are 6.3oz, so I am guessing the GCA has the same sized frame as the 500 series but features a larger capacity spool? If anyone has any info on that I'd appreciate it. I'd like to stick with something relatively smaller than my beloved Shimano's.

Well anyway, I decided t pick up the GCA800. It is indeed a small reel with a larger capacity spool. I'm not sure it feels as "tight" as my SB500's but I really do think it will be a sweet little reel for what I want to do with it, and that is fish light jigs for river bass.

I spooled some InvizX 4lb on it and it should cast a 1/16oz jig a mile or so.
